US Presence In Syria Is Still Illegal

With Trump stating he wants to withdraw US forces from Syria, he is doing something surprising. Ending the ILLEGAL occupation of a foreign country by US forces.

Of course, the “resistance” is completely freaked out. What? END one of our forever wars? Unthinkable.

First, the illegal part. From the very first US tire track or footprint by US troops on Syrian soil, from the very first flyover by US jets, our presence in Syria has been in violation of international law. Our presence in Syria has NEVER been approved by the UN Security Council, the Syrian government (democratically elected) or the Russian government (legally present in Syria by invitation of the legal Syrian government to fight ISIS and Al Qaeda). These are the ONLY entities with the authority to grant legal permission for US military presence in Syria.

Why are we there? Have you noticed how many The claim being made by the “resistance” is that our purpose in Syria is to support the Kurds. Really? That comes as news to me. I could have sworn our presence in Syria was to fight against ISIS and Al Qaeda. Or is it to support the Syrian people against Assad? Or is it to protect Israel against Syria and Iran?

You’ll notice the rationale for our presence there keeps on changing. Yet none of those rationales make sense when examined.

Arming all sides. Turkey has had a long history of animosity toward the Kurds. It was only a few months ago that our government was arming the Kurds to assist…
