More About Why War Is Bad Capitalism

Some people believe war is profitable. For a select few, this is true. Only for a select few.

The ultimate truth is that war is bad for capitalism. Simple reasoning will tell you that. It is good for monopolies, oligarchs. Bad for capitalism in general.

Think about it.

Reduced consumerism. War reduces the number of consumers globally by the millions. It also destroys manufacturing and retail jobs. The people remaining have less income, meaning they are less likely to want, need or afford products made in the US and imported to their country. If their cities and roads are destroyed, what need do they have of a fuel-guzzling American vehicle? If they can barely survive on the food available to them, think you’re going to sell them candy bars and sodas? What income they have is being spent rebuilding their lives once the fighting is over. While the fighting is still going on, they’re not buying much of anything but absolute necessities.

Effects on global supply chains. War does not increase demand or spending directly. What it does is shift the flow of where that money is spent. Where money was spent on consumer goods, now it is spent on weapons. It increases prices on consumer goods due to lower global availability and production. When you destroy the agricultural and manufacturing output of a country, some goods become more expensive due to lack of availability from remaining sources. It reduces the choices available overall, except for what is offered by monopolistic…
