Capitalists and their sycophants continually rage against government regulations. Meanwhile past and current capitalist abuse are what has caused the necessity of laws and regulations regarding:
Worker safety laws
Minimum wage laws
Wage protection laws
Overtime pay
Consumer protection
Child labor
Environmental protection
Superfund sites
Antitrust
Patient protection and privacy
Medication and medical device safety
Banking and financial service regulation
In the 1990’s I worked at the San Antonio AIDS Foundation, which had standards of protecting medical information. Those standards later became the skeleton upon which HIPAA was built. Today HIPAA includes standards far beyond what most people ever even think about. Like standards for encryption and not transmitting protected medical information across wireless connections.
