A Matter Of National Security

The current administration has bombed Iraq and Syria twice. Now they are bombing Somalia.

I don’t have to look at the WH website to know what it says. It will say that Somalia has become a matter of US national security and that this is a national emergency.

Somalia is not a matter of US national security. Nor are Iran, Iraq, Syria, Venezuela, Russia or China.

Know what are matters of US national security? Poverty, crumbling infrastructure, hungry children, mass shootings, tens of thousands dying every year because they cannot afford medical care, megadrought in the west, climate change, millions lined up for food banks, millions either evicted or facing the possibility of eviction in the immediate future, election integrity.. so much more.

Interesting we don’t see the military mobilized for these things. Not one red penny of the Pentagon budget being spent to protect Americans from all the very real threats we face every minute of every day right now.

No, it is not a matter of national security of another country has a different socioeconomic system from ours. It is not a matter of national security if Russia sells gas and oil to Europe. It is not a matter of national security if China leads us…
